What comes to mind when you think of Cotton? Jeans, books, diapers, sheets, pillows and towels? Did you know that just about every conventional cotton product we use effects what we eat? The by-products in conventional cotton used in our clothing, personal care, bedding and furniture goes back into our food supply.
GMO Cotton is the 9th largest producing crop and $12 billion industry in the United States. Here in our own US, cotton is mainly grown for fiber. World wide, cotton covers 2.5% of the cultivated land and uses 16% of the world’s pesticides in one single crop; making cotton the “dirtiest” crop production, or in other words may be considered a toxic waste site.
